Numb

Another scream piercing the night,
Another slash across her back,
Another hand holding her body down,
And Another man with his zipper down.

Another slap across her cheek,
Another rip on her bloody dress,
Another video clip of her writhing self,
And another howl from the ones around.

Another bruise from the hand on her throat,
Another bite mark on her frigid skin,
Another plea on those deaf ears,
And another gasp as her end nears.

Another thrust from her tormentor’s hips,
Another rod in her bloody self,
Another snap of her breaking bone,
And another man passing nonchalantly by.

Another dawn bringing a naked corpse,
Another news article in tomorrow’s trash,
Another stab on our useless conscience,
And another daughter reduced to ashes.
